Give Fayetteville the Greene Light

I’m Lynne Greene, and I am member of Fayetteville City Council, District 5.

Our city needs council members who are going to bring the community together and embrace the hard work of achieving true change in public safety, economic growth, and the plans for Fayetteville’s future. I am working hard to achieve these goals.

Our city council also needs transparency. As part of that transparency, I have left my campaign promises (“greene lights”) up on my website so voters can check my progress.

Fayetteville, NC neighborhood

Safe, clean neighborhoods.

Safety of Fayetteville’s citizens is top priority.  We need to increase funding to our police department for additional staff, staff retention and most importantly, training. As Archilochus said, “We don’t rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training.” We also need to invest in successful community programs like after-school activities and summer job opportunities that will address the causes of crime before it turns into violence. We need open lines of communication between our police department and neighborhoods to build collaboration and reinvigorate a sense of pride in our city’s neighborhoods.

Open for Business.

If Fayetteville wants to attract and keep a younger population, we need diversity in our industries so we will have more job options. We need to offer better incentives for businesses to move here and invest in our city. Fayetteville’s tax rates must be more in line with comparable sized cities to attract businesses and people here. We need to invest in green space, cultural events, and our city’s identity so people want to move here, work here, stay here, and play here.

Focused on Our Future.

It is way past the time for Fayetteville to implement the plan to enhance the corridors into our city. This can be accomplished by incentivizing current and new businesses to invest in neglected areas. Our city council needs to help our existing businesses stay healthy, efficient, and resilient.  Fayetteville must be fiscally responsible now to ensure that we have funds for the future, which will minimize tax increases.  We need INTENTIONAL planning and common-sense strategies for the future!
