I am Thankful!
Well, with less than 24 hours until Election Day all I can say is....I'm THANKFUL!!!
When I embarked on this journey I knew it would be challenging, and it has been for sure! However, the rewards have far outweighed the challenges, and I'm just thankful.
Here are a list of things I'm thankful for, and I pray I've not omitted something or someone! Just please know that if you've played even, what you consider to be, the smallest of roles, it was APPRECIATED!!!!
Things I'm thankful for:
I'm blessed with a wonderful church family that has held me up in every way possible: prayer, contributions, words of encouragement, and more prayer.
Old friends who have reached out to me and volunteered to help with any task needed, from large sign locations, putting out yard signs, attending events with me, etc.
New friends I've made along the way, because old friends wanted to introduce me to their friends!
A dear friend who volunteered for the task of designing my logo, signs, buttons, etc. and she doesn't work in that field, but wow is she gifted!
A "meet and greet" held in the neighborhood where I was able to meet more of my neighbors and discuss issues they are having with current city government.
Countless phone calls and great advise from former municipal officials, commissioners, campaign experts, etc.
Contributions from residents, across the county, wanting to show their support for me.
The 14 volunteers who showed up and addressed envelopes for me.
My friend, who is a painter, that volunteered to paint the wood posts on my large signs, because he didn't like the bare wood, and drove all over town to do it. He was confident they would be up through November 7th (I pray he's correct!!).
The excitement I felt when the first of several mailers arrived, that I was unaware of and was paid for by a PAC endorsing me. YAY!!
The volunteers who built and erected my large signs, because even though I like to think I'm capable of that job, it would have been a struggle without their help!
The countless calls, texts, emails, etc. just offering words of encouragement and checking on me.
The calls from voters (most of them not people I knew before this) expressing their desire for change and thanking me for putting myself out there.
The FTS student who met with me and is writing a paper for her AP Government class about the political process. I was so encouraged by her enthusiasm!
The local business community members who took time out of their schedules to talk with me about their experiences, good or bad, when trying to do business within the city.
The many opportunities I've had to speak at club meetings, radio spots, etc so people could meet me and hear my ideas for themselves.
Most of all, I'm thankful for my faith, because that has sustained me and kept me sane over the past 3 months!
Tomorrow is the Primary!!! Please VOTE! It's so important to have a voice in making this city the best that it can be!! See you at the polls!
