Too early for political signs
It is just too early, in my opinion!
Thank you to all of you that have reached out to me about seeing my opponent's political signs and asking me to put up my signs.
There is a statute that governs political signs placed in a right-of-way. Early voting starts on September 21st, so I should not put them in the right-of-way before August 22nd. I think it is important for elected officials to not only know the rules, but to also follow them.
Here's a copy of the statue:
NCGS§ 136-32. Regulation of signs.
(b) Compliant Political Signs Permitted. – During the period beginning on the 30th day before the beginning date of "one-stop" early voting under G.S. 163A-1300 and ending on the 10th day after the primary or election day, persons may place political signs in the right-of-way of the State highway system as provided in this section. Signs must be placed in compliance with subsection (d) of this section and must be removed by the end of the period prescribed in this subsection.
I'm allowed to put signs on private property with the permission of the owner at any time, including my own home. However, I feel most of you do not want to look at political signs any longer than necessary. Let's do the math.... if I put my signs up on August 22nd, then my signs will be up for 50 days for the primary and another 28 days until Nov. 7th. 78 days is more than enough!
So, with all of that being said.... thank you for reaching out. If you would like a Lynne Greene for City Council sign, please email at info@lynnebgreene.com, and my team will get you one AFTER August 22nd.
